Races, classes, and professions
What would a role-playing game (or perhaps a ridicoulous one) even be if it didn't have any of those three things? A very strange, very bad one.
Races are used to determine what racial ability you have. They can heal you, help kill enemies, and protect your allies from harm. Races also limit you to certain classes. Not all races can be all different classes, because that would mean there is nothing to disinguish from other races other than your appearance. There is one last thing races can do: Based on what race/class combo you choose (example: Human warrior, or Dwarf paladin), you have a power that is unique to only that race/class combo.
Classes give your character a special set of powers that let you defeat enemies. There are three types of classes: Tanking classes, damage-dealing classes, and healing classes.
Tanking classes have high amounts of health and are meant to force enemies to, instead of attacking characters with lower health, attack them. For example, if a damage-dealing character is about to die because it is low on health, the tank can come to the rescue by forcing the attacking enemy to attack them, therefore saving the damage-dealing character's life.
Damage-dealing classes are the most simple of all class types, because all they need to do is kill enemies as easily as possible. It is their job to just keep pummeling the enemy with spells and powerful weapons in order to destroy them.
Healing classes are meant to keep the tank alive, therefore making the enemies have a very hard time getting past the tank to the damage-dealers. If the tank does die, than it is the healer's job to keep the damage-dealers die. And if the healer dies, well... there goes your party.
Professions are meant to make the game more than just killing monsters, getting through dungeons, solving puzzles, and collecting items. They make the game something that entertains people for a lot longer than their 3rd dungeon. They let you do various jobs and reap in the rewards. From being a plumber to running a barber-shop, there are all sorts of things you can do.
Skills are coming soon. They will let you harvest things and create items with the harvested objects.
